Upon Precept and Admonition
Kārikā Prathamā
The vibration, shall be unmeasurable, going forth; ¦
indeed, for a strong resolve, tis ever increasing. |
The full spectrum, tis with these virtues, with these dharmas. ¦
The ocean, tis with waters, such manner. || 14.1 ||
Kārikā Dvitīyā
In like manner, t'was completely supporting a good preparation. ¦
Verily, foremost purity, is the victorious nature born. |
Proper knowledge, vibration realized also, ¦
in (meditation) mental development, (tis)(first) turned to. || 14.2 ||
Cognition Specified
Kārikā Tṛtīyā
In the dharma stream, from these discerning intellects, ¦
tis to precept, one grasps, at that time. |
For the noble one, tis for a tranquility knowing ¦
vastness attaining, indeed. || 14.3 ||
Kārikā Caturthā
From that, in the sūtra first, in the dharma, ¦
one, is on a non·duality pathway manifesting. |
In the sūtra's foremost essence, from enjoining, ¦
to thought, from the very first, is restraint. || 14.4 ||
Kārikā Pañcamā
Thence, in these foundations of subdivision, ¦
it ought meander forth, from a regular order. |
Ought one wander about, therefore, for skillful means; and, ¦
one's self, fundamentally also, is it. || 14.5 ||
Kārikā Ṣaṣthā
Having made firm, also, for them, these skillful means, ¦
in the dharma, ought one be urged on, again. |
Thence, ought he do, unto complete aspiration; ¦
therefore, for the method acquiring, is he. || 14.6 ||
Consciousness Specified
Kārikā Saptamā
One ought seek, ought regard with introspection, ¦
the self consciousness, with these conversations, from being bound together, |
with inexpressabile one and the same sentiments, also thereto. ¦
With these thoughts, ought one wander about. || 14.7 ||
Kārikā Aṣṭhamā
Shall be learned, the tranquility way, tis of that; ¦
the dharma's essence, also, (is) gathered together. |
Shall be known, insightful observation, is the path; ¦
thus so, of these skillful means, tis the reflective examination. || 14.8 ||
Kārikā Navamā
Conjoined opposition pairs, also, shall't be known. ¦
A pathway is, for that, for the gathering together, again. |
The cessation, of thought, ought one obtain, ¦
to be held up, causing one to be observant, once more. || 14.9 ||
Kārikā Dashamā
For tranquility firmly grasping, one ought take regard, ¦
in that!, not in the fundamental foundation, once more. |
By continuity, moreover, having well made, ¦
within everyone, it might be caused to be joined together, again. || 14.10 ||
Expedient Means Specified
Kārikā Ekadasā
Having restrained, in the fundamental ground, the thought, ¦
that, to vibration, it not ought extend outward. |
Having gone down, quickly, to dispersion, ¦
in that, one ought it disregard, once more. || 14.11 ||
Kārikā Dvādasā
For every ātman, ought one fully disregard thought; ¦
upwards, upwards, is the possessor of wisdom. |
From that also, ought delight the cognition, ¦
in an exalted meditation, from the attribute's revelation. || 14.12 ||
Kārikā Trayodaśā
For displeasure ought be made quiescent, in that, ¦
from the dispersion of a fault's appearance. |
The desire, for these mental afflictions foremostly, ¦
for these vastly divergent opinions, ought be made quiescent, that manner. || 14.13 ||
Kārikā Caturdasā
From that also, for those with karmic formative thoughts, ¦
in cognition, for a congenial flowing along, |
ought that one grasp, unto those strong karmic mental seeds; ¦
thence, from diligent effort, once more, is control. || 14.14 ||
Manner of Going Method
Kārikā Pañcadaśā
From that, one is, to a narrow satisfaction having obtained, ¦
for the confidence, of both body and intellect. |
For shall be increased the knowing, one is but a mental construct. ¦
Again, for them, one is ever growing. || 14.15 ||
Kārikā Ṣoḍaśā
For growth in remoteness, by vagabondage, ¦
to the Earth one holds fast, for abiding. |
For her, tis purifying, the direct knowledge, for method. ¦
One goes so, for agility, for final beatitude. || 14.16 ||
Kārikā Saptadaśā
In the constraint of senses, the intuitive knowledge, from attainment, ¦
to the realm of constituent elements, it goes. |
An affrimation of vows, for method, shall be of these immeasurables; ¦
in being awakened, tis for the śramaṇa monk also. || 14.17 ||
Kārikā Aṣṭādaśā
Unto these immeasurables, having resorted to, that this, ¦
to the awakened ones, with these oscillations, shall be with these immeasurables, moving towards. |
For agility, unto a final beatitude, doth one go, ¦
from consciousness, so also, from insight. || 14.18 ||
Five Blessings of Purity
Kārikā Navadaśā
Thence, unto these blessings, one obtains; ¦
with these five most faultless, one is, to those gone before. |
The complete virtue of generosity also, ¦
from that, one departs, to the unsurpassed. || 14.19 ||
Kārikā Viṃśā
In the entire beginning, a very small body, indeed, ¦
moves fluidly, of that, continuing every moment. |
Filled up, also, ˰ with trust, ¦
is the bodies heart and mind, from being universal. || 14.20 ||
Kārikā Ekaviṃśā
For an uninterrupted, most emanating appearance, ¦
of these dharmas, doth one understand, thoroughly. |
For these non·emanated, in complete purification, ¦
characteristics, doth one behold before the eyes. || 14.21 ||
Kārikā Dvāviṃśā
In perfect fulfillment, and in complete virtue also, ¦
of the dependently arisen ̇s form, in every manner, |
makes, constantly, the one of wisdom; ¦
thus, for the causal matrix everywhere grasping. || 14.22 ||
Thought From Chatter
Kārikā Trayoviṃśā
From that, tis also that one, that manner, a person of wisdom, ¦
a bodhisattva, a pure and holy person. |
Thought, from chatter, for these liberating ones, ¦
for those fully of skillful means, doth not manifest forth. || 14.23 ||
Kārikā Caturviṃśā
Of the Dharma realm, for a growth path, ¦
right effort attains, most thoroghly. |
With the Dharma splendour's increase, also, ¦
in thought's matrix, it settles down. || 14.24 ||
Kārikā Pañcaviṃśā
The entire path of emanation, ¦
tis from that, in cognition, one observes. |
The abandoned, the graspable casting out, ¦
then, of that, doth exist this. || 14.25 ||
Kārikā Ṣaḍviṃśā
Thereupon, the perceiver discarding, ¦
the unmingled, of that, is left remaining. |
For an uninterupted samādhi, also, ¦
doth touch, directly, then, once again. || 14.26 ||
Discarding The One Who Grasps
Kārikā Saptaviṃśā
From which, the grasper discarding, ¦
set in motion, in this manner, unending. |
Shall be known, these burning desire manners of going foremost; ¦
for these, indeed, such manner, are for steps of a regular progress. || 14.27 ||
Conducive To Highest Insights
Kārikā Aṣṭāviṃśā
To duality holding on completely disenjoined, ¦
to the realm on high, to the none higher, |
to the non·cognizing still mind, to impurity departed, ¦
to wisdom, one obtains, once more. || 14.28 ||
Kārikā Navaviṃśā
It is of that, ‐ the fundamental basis turning around ‐ , ¦
first manner, a platform is sought after. |
Shall be with these immeasurables also, of that; does it, by these oscillations, ¦
to well going complete virtue, come down to. || 14.29 ||
Self's Sameness of Mind
Kārikā Triṃśā
From the dependently arisen's fundament, and to sameness, ¦
having penetrated once again; then, |
in all these sentient beings, one grasps hold, ¦
constantly, unto the self's equanimity. || 14.30 ||
Kārikā Ekatriṃśā
In selflessness, ˰ in the suffering way, ¦
in action, these are without a counter reaction; |
in sentient beings, tis sameness of mind, that; ¦
which manner, upon another, therefore, are these victorious nature born. || 14.31 ||
Self's Three Dhātukas
Kārikā Dvātriṃśā
Unto the three dhātus of a self·nature's mental construct, ¦
from the unliving shimmering illusion, |
by wisdom, by being well purified, ¦
by the non·duality path, doth one observe. || 14.32 ||
Appearance Pathway
Kārikā Trayastriṃśā
So also, of non·existence, for existence also, ¦
for the unfettered one, by these wrong views abandoning, |
having so obtained, the appearance pathway, verily, ¦
then, by that, tis explained. || 14.33 ||
Kārikā Catustriṃśā
For the negation of emptiness, having known; ¦
that manner, of existence, tis for emptiness. |
By the primordial unmanifested principle, for emptiness, having known, ¦
an absence of measurable qualities wisdom, just so, tis explained. || 14.34 ||
Kārikā Pañcatriṃśā
The signless state's foundation, shall be known, ¦
of these conceptual cognitions also, tis the complete dissolution. |
The unliving shimmering illusion, is also, ¦
therefore, of an aimlessness, indeed. || 14.35 ||
Kārikā Ṣaṭtriṃśā
By that, by the appearance pathway, ¦
all together, tis one apprehending then, the thought, |
of all these, of these consciousness suppositions, ¦
of these wonders, within the victor nature born. || 14.36 ||
One Who The Appearance Pathway Grasps
Kārikā Saptatriṃśā
The mental construct's foundation, for a living being, having gone to by the discerning intellect, ¦
tis for having no unique existence; suffering's increasing ascent for foundation, |
having grown, ‐ which is a non·method consisting of a persona's wrong view ‐ , ¦
to the complete essence beholding, serves, for a great pathway. || 14.37 ||
Kārikā Aṣṭātriṃśā
Without a self's wrong view!, he whom in this world, is a self's wrong view ¦
without; moreover, by suffering, is the beneficially good suffering also. |
Is every method's agent, not also an action desiring; ¦
which manner, from the self, for self centered advantages, having been created! || 14.38 ||
Kārikā Navatriṃśā
He whom, is liberated and realized, by final beatitude, by release; ¦
is bound also, by a very much restraining binding together. |
Of suffering, for an all around end, the unobserving mind, ¦
tis yoked, also like that; it manifests also in this way. || 14.39 ||
Kārikā Catvāriṃśā
For one's own suffering, to elevate, in this world, tis an uncommon aim. ¦
The realm, from where, tis for congealing together, otherwise, for sorrow. |
For living existence one and the same, tis making for a noble praise, indeed, the unthinkable. ¦
From the transformation, of that, in sooth, is the bodhisattva. || 14.40 ||
Kārikā Ekacatvāriṃśā
Wherefore loving kindness, which is friendliness, tis the joining together, ¦
in these sentient beings; tis an enthusiasm also, for the victor nature knowing. |
Astonishingly, this is, for the surpreme, in these cyclic existences. ¦
Not also, in this way, tis for sentient beings similar, from nonexistence. || 14.41 ||
Meditation and Path, Two Ways of Knowledge
Kārikā Dvācatvāriṃśā
Therefrom, that, meditation, on the path, ¦
in those remaining, upon these stages, |
of wisdom, tis of two ways, in this world, ¦
for mental development, turned to. || 14.42 ||
Kārikā Trayaścatvāriṃśā
The non·cognizing still mind also, that wisdom, ¦
tis, for one of buddha dharma who purifies. |
Otherwise, which manner, the foundation, ¦
of these sentient beings, tis for all around maturity. || 14.43 ||
Kārikā Catuścatvāriṃśā
These meditations going, and not going, ¦
the two, shall be unmeasurable, fully grasped; it is, |
to the final realization, having approached, ¦
is the bodhisattva consecrated. || 14.44 ||
Kārikā Pañcacatvāriṃṣā
For the adamantine on highest, for one pointedness, ¦
for the mental construct indivisible, having gone to also, |
the steady state, tis for the fundamental basis turning around, ¦
for every obscuration without blemish. || 14.45 ||
Kārikā Ṣaṭcatvāriṃśā
For the entire manifestation's knowledge, also, in this way, ¦
one grasps, the unsurpassed foundation. |
In which, the abode, of all sentient beings, ¦
for inspiration, doth come back around. || 14.46 ||
Discourse on Great Beings, Made Visible
Kārikā Saptacatvāriṃśā
Pray tell, that manner, on a difficult to grasp revelation, within the muni sage, ¦
ought be a great skillful means; for tis not indeed, a constant vision, |
to a high degree, from a fully invigorated intellect, always, ¦
with these calms and outbursts of emotion, with these uneven streams coming into existence. || 14.47 ||
Kārikā Aṣṭācatvāriṃśā
Having not urged, self conceit, constantly, also towards one's self, ¦
that manner, with these ways of going, in the dharma's contented tranquility, is one standing out. |
Having restrained, in these robes, like that, the fault moving towards, tis from an act of choosing. ¦
Having dragged it down, in the awakened consciousness, is one, from strength, well established within. || 14.48 ||
Kārikā Navacatvāriṃśā
One is for the whole world, with these well purified appearances, ¦
with these non·vibration perceptions; having vanquished, every manner, |
to the great darkness master, consisting of homage; brightly shines, ¦
for living beings, a great solar diety, like that, from on highest. || 14.49 ||
The Final Essential Quintessence Going Method
Kārikā Pañcāśā
These Buddhas, to praise, ˰ doth one exalt, constantly, ˰ in one's skillful means being all together fully enjoined to. ¦
For to blame, tis envy, upon being so enjoined, ˰ in staying the accumulations of another person, ˰ and for hindrance of flowing with the current. |
For dharmas, for these complete ways, ˰ in the right manner, here, these victor born ones ˰ are made visible, 'mongst the foremost of embodied ones. ¦
For they whom, in a given up, ‐ having been unsupported ‐, yoga practice, ˰ exists the greatness, ˰ in a buddhist person, upon the teaching, on this. || 14.50 ||
Instruction Śloka, The Way of Going Method
Kārikā Ekapañcāśā
Thus so, always, tis the auspicious accumulation to completion. ¦
For a well virtuous man, having gone to, he, from consciousness, is to samādhi. |
The sage, constantly, the great teaching grasping, ¦
becomes, ‐ the guṇa ocean's further shore going to ‐, a foremost sentient being. || 14.51 ||
