Kārikā Prathamā

Sa̩ṅkhyā̍, certainly tha̩t, for lakṣa̩ṇa̍, (tis) ānu̩pūrvī̍. ¦

The ni̩rukti̍, having a̩bhyā̍sa̩guṇa̍, also̩, (is) amongst the̍m. |

For pra̩bheda̍na ̊ng, for sa̩ṅgraha̍ṇa ̊ng, the vi̩pakṣa̍, ¦

shall be the jñe̩ya̍ ̇d; the gu̩ṇa̍, on̩e to ano̍ther, vi̩ni̍ścaya̩, also̍. || 16.1 ||

Saṅkhyā Vibhāge

Kārikā Dvitīyā

Bhoga̩ (in) ā̩tma̍ (and) bhāva̍ sa̩mpa̍d, ¦¦

pa̩ri̍cāra̩ ̇ng (and) ā̩rambha̍ sa̩mpa̍t, (are) the abhyu̩daya̍. |

To kleśa̍ a̍vaśa̩ gatva̍ ̇ng, the̩reto̍, also̩, ¦¦

in these kṛtya̍ ̇s, consta̩ntly, (tis) the avi̩paryāsa̍. || 16.2 ||

Kārikā Tṛtrīyā

In these satva̩ a̩rtha̍ ̇s, the su̩yukta̍ ̇d, ¦¦

by tyāga̍ ̇ng (and) a̍nupa̩ghāta̍ ̇s marṣa̩ṇa̍ ̇ng, kuru̩te̍ ̇s. |

With the sani̩dāna̍ sthiti̩ ̇ng muktyā̍, ¦¦

unto the ātma̩ a̩rtha̍, eve̩ry ma̍nner, doth one ca̩ra̍ti. || 16.3 ||

Kārikā Caturthā

With those a̍vi̩ghāta̍ ̇d, with those avi̩heṭha̍ ̇s, ¦¦

with these vi̩heṭha̍ ̇s sa̩ṃmarṣa̍ṇa̩ ̇ng, the kriyā̍, (tis) with a̍khe̩da̍. |

With those ā̩varja̍na ̇ng, with those su̩lapi̍ta ̇d, ¦¦

the para̩ ̇st a̩rtha̍ (and) ā̍tma̩ a̩rtha̍, (are) fro̩m thi̍s. || 16.4 ||

Kārikā Pañcamā

In these bhoga̍ ̇s, a̩nd the a̩na̍bhi̩rati̍, ¦¦

the tī̩vrā̍, the guru̩tā̍, in dva̩ya̍, the a̩kheda̍ also̩, |

the yoga̍ a̩nd the ni̍rvi̩kalpa̍, ¦¦

e̩qua̍lly, for hi̩m, thi̍s, (tis) for the u̩tta̍ma̩ ̇st yāna̍. || 16.5 ||

Kārikā Ṣaṣṭhā

In these vi̩ṣaya̍ ̇s, the a̩sakti̍ mā̩rga̍, ¦¦

tha̩t, in those āpti̍ ̇d (at) vi̩kṣepa̍ ̇ng (and) sa̩ṃyama̍ ̇ng, (tis) a̩para̍. |

In these satva̍ ̇ly a̍vi̩sṛja̍na̩ ̇ng of vardha̍na ¦¦

ā̩vara̍ṇa ̇s vi̩śodha̍na ̇ng, (tis) a̩para̍. || 16.6 ||

Kārikā Saptamā

The śikṣā̍, tra̩ya̍, having adhi̩kṛtya̍ ̇d, also̩ ¦

the ṣa̍ḍ pāra̩mitā̍; with these ji̩na̍ ̇s, (are) those samā̩khyāta̍ ̇d. |

With the ā̍dyā̩, in those tisra̍, in two̩ pa̍rts; ¦

the antya̩ dvaya̍ta̩, amongst those ti̍sra̩, (tis) eka̍. || 16.7 ||

(tis) the prati̩ṣṭhā̍, for (a) śā̩nta̍ ni̩rbhīta̍, ¦

Kārikā Viṃśa

The sa̩ṅketa̍ ̇ng dharma̩tā̍, for labdha̍ ̇ng, ¦

upon these sa̩ṃvara̍ stha̍ ̇ng, was vidya̩te̍ ̇d. |

Kārikā Ekaviṃśā

For the marṣa̍ a̍dhi̩vāsa̍na̩ jñāna̍ ̇ng, ¦

from kāru̩ṇya̍, from the dharma̍ sa̩ṃśraya̍ ̇ng, |

for the pañca̍ a̍nu̩śaṃsa̍ ā̩khyāta̍ ̇d, ¦

of dvaya̍, for the artha̩ kara̍ ̇ng, (tis) also̩ tha̍t. || 16.21 ||

Kārikā Dvāviṃśā

The tapa̍s, having prā̩balya̍ ̇d, for sa̩ṃyukta̍, ¦

in tho̩se, tha̍t (is), to tri̩vidha̍, the ma̩ta̍. |

For kṣānti̍, thu̩s, having pa̍ri̩jñāya̍ ̇d, ¦

the paṇḍi̩ta̍ ought sa̩mu̍dā̩naye̍t. || 16.22 ||

Vīrya Prabhede

Kārikā Trayoviṃśā

The u̩tsāha̍, (tis) in kuśa̩la̍, similarly bo̩und. ¦

From śraddha̍, (is) the chanda̩ pra̍ti̩ṣṭhita̍. |

By smṛti̍, in the a̍di̩guṇa̍ vṛ̩ddhi̍, also, ¦

(is) sa̩ṅkleśa̍ prati̩pakṣi̍ka̩ ̇d. || 16.23 ||

Kārikā Caturviṃśā

The a̩lobha̍ a̍di̩guṇa̍ u̍peta̩; ¦

in tho̍se̩, the sapta̍ vi̩dha̍ also̩, is he̍. |

For vīrya̍, just so̩, having pa̍ri̩jñāya̍ ̇d, ¦

the paṇḍi̩ta̍, ought sa̩mu̍dā̩naye̍t. || 16.24 ||

Dhyāna Prabhede

Kārikā Pañcaviṃśā

Sthiti̍, of ceta̩sa̍, (tis) the a̩dhyātma̍, ¦

for smṛti̩ (by) the vīrya̍ prati̩ṣṭhita̍ ̇ng. |

For sukha̍ (in) u̍pa̩patti̍, abhi̩jñā̍, ¦

(tis) for vi̩hāra̍ ̇ng (with) va̩śa̍ (by) varta̩ka̍ ̇ng. || 16.25 ||

Kārikā Ṣaḍviṃśā

Of these dharmā̍ṇām, for the pra̩mukha̍n, in tho̩se, ¦

(tis) vidya̍te ̇d tri̩vidha̍ś, also̩ tha̍t. |

From (a) kāru̍ṇya, on high, no̩t also̍, (is) the prati̩kṛti̍, ˰ not (an) i̩ṣṭa̍ phala̍, for prā̩rthi̍ta. |

By dāna̍, just so̩, also̍ by tha̩t, (is) the sarva̍ jana̩tā̍, ˰ in the bodhi̩ traya̍, ropi̩tā ̇d. ¦

Dāna̍, with jñāna̩ pa̍ri̩graha̍ ̇ng, also̩ agai̍n, ˰ in the lo̩ka̍, (tis) for ājña̩ya̍ sthāpi̩ta̍ ̇d. || 16.36 ||

Kārikā Saptatriṃśā

Ātta̍ ̇d, by those of buddha̩̍ ̇s suta̍ ̇d, yama̩ ̇ng and u̩dyama̍ ̇ng ma̩ya̍, ˰ (is) the śīla̩ traya̍, eve̩rmo̍re. ¦

Sva̩rga̍, (is) not abhi̩mata̍ ̇d, having been sa̩metya̍ ̇d, a̩lso aga̍in; ˰ sa̩kti̍, (tis) no̩t, the̍rei̩n, ā̩hitā̍ ̇d. |

By śīla̍, ju̩st so̍, also̩ by tha̍t, (is) the sarva̩ jana̍tā, ˰ in the bodhi̩ traya̍, ropi̩tā̍ ̇d. ¦

Śīla̍, with jñāna̩ pa̍ri̩graha̍ ̇ng, also̩ aga̍in, ˰ in the lo̩ka̍, (tis) for the akṣa̩ya̍ sthāpi̩ta̍ ̇d. || 16.37 ||

Kārikā Aṣṭātriṃśā

Kṣānta̍, by those buddha̩̍ ̇s suta̍ ̇d, (tis) most sudu̩ṣkara̍, thereto̩, ˰ for the sarva̍ a̍pa̩kāra̍, of the nṛ̩. ¦

No̍t for the svarga̩ a̩rtha̍, (tis) from a̩sakti̍, no̩t also̍ from bha̩ya̍, ˰ no̩t certai̍nly, upon the u̍pa̩kāra̍, from a kṣa̩ṇa̍. |

By kṣānti̍ a̍nu̩ttara̍ ̇d, also̩, (is) the sarva̍ jana̩tā̍, ˰ in the bodhi̩ traya̍, ropi̩tā̍ ̇d. ¦

Kṣānti̍, with jñāna̩ pa̍ri̩graha̍ ̇ng, also̩ agai̍n, ˰ in the lo̩ka̍, (is) the akṣa̩yā̍ sthāpi̩tā̍ ̇d. || 16.38 ||

Kārikā Navatriṃśā

Vīrya̍, by those buddha̩̍ ̇s suta̍ ̇d, (tis) the kṛta̩ ̇ng ni̍rupa̩ma̍ ̇d, ˰ for (a) sa̩nnāha̍ yoga̩ ̇ng ā̩tma̍ka̩. ¦

To hantu̍m, kleśa̩ ̇s gaṇa̍, from o̩ne's natu̍re, thereto̩, from o̍n high, ˰ (tis) to prā̩ptu̍m, also, the bodhi̩ parā̍ ̇st. |

By vīrya̍, just so̩, also̍ by tha̩t, (is) the sarva̍ jana̩tā̍, ˰ in the bodhi̩ traya̍, ropi̩tā̍ ̇d. ¦

Vīrya̍, with jñāna̩ pa̍ri̩graha̍ ̇ng, also̩ aga̍in, ˰ in the lo̩ka̍, (is) the akṣa̩ya̍ sthāpi̩ta̍ ̇d. || 16.39 ||

Kārikā Catvāriṃśā

Dhyāna̍, by those buddha̩̍ ̇s suta̍ ̇d, (tis) to sa̩mādhi̍ bahu̩la̍, ˰ sa̩mpādi̍ta ̇d, eve̩ry manne̍r. ¦

With these śreṣṭha̍ dhyāna̩ ̇s (unto) sukha̍, having vi̩hṛtya̍ ̇d, with kṛpa̩yā, ˰ (tis) hīna̍'d the a̍pa̩patti̍ śri̩tā̍ ̇ng. |

By dhyāna̍, ju̍st so̩, also̍ by tha̩t, (is) the sarva̍ jana̩tā̍, ˰ in the bodhi̩ traya̍, ropi̩tā̍ ̇d. ¦

Dhyāna̍, with jñāna̩ pa̍ri̩graha̍ ̇ng, also̩ aga̍in, ˰ in the lo̩ka̍, (is) the akṣa̩ya̍ sthāpi̩ta̍ ̇d. || 16.40 ||

Kārikā Ekacatvāriṃśā

To be jñāta̍ ̇d, by those buddha̩̍ ̇s suta̍ ̇d, (tis a) sa̩tattva̍ a̩khila̍, ˰ shall be jñe̩ya̍ ̇d also̩, whate̍ver ̇s, in every manne̩r. ¦

Sakti̍, (is) no̩t like tha̩t also̍, — for both (are) ni̩rvṛta̍ ̇ng the pra̩jani̍tā̩ ̇d — ˰ with these buddha̍ ̇s, fro̩m who̍m, (are) both sa̩ṃvṛta̍ ̇d. |

By jñāna̍, ju̍st so̩, also̍ by tha̩t, (is) the sarva̍ jana̩tā̍, ˰ in the bodhi̩ traya̍, ropi̩tā̍ ̇d. ¦

Jñāna̍, with satva̩ pa̍ri̩graha̍ ̇ng, also̩ aga̍in, ˰ in the lo̩ka̍, (is) the akṣa̩ya̍ sthāpi̩ta̍ ̇d. || 16.41 ||

Kārikā Dvācatvāriṃśā

Of these au̩dārya̍, (tis) the iṣta̩tva̍, a̩nd, ¦

the mahā̍ a̍rtha̩ a̩kṣayatā̍, thereto̍, also̩; |

for the dāna̍ a̍dī̩nā̍, sama̩s, to hi̍m, inde̩ed, ¦

shall be jñeya̍'d, the guṇa̩ catu̍ṣṭa̩ya̍. || 16.42 ||

Kārikā Trayacatvāriṃśā

To the darśa̍na̩ pūra̍ṇa̩'ng tuṣṭi̍, ¦¦

— whi̩ch also̍ no̩t, those who̍, to a̩tuṣṭi̍ thereto̩, (are) for sa̍mā̩śasti̍ — |

abhi̩bhava̍ti̩'s he̍, unto he̩r, the dātā̍, ¦¦

the kṛpā̍lu, with ā̩dhi̍kya̩ yoga̍ ̇d. || 16.43 ||

Kārikā Catuścatvāriṃśā

To these prāṇa̍ ̇s, to these bhoga̍ ̇s, to these dāra̍ ̇s, ¦¦

upon these sattva̍ ̇s, from sa̩dānya̍'ng jana̩ kṛpā̍lu̩tva, |

he ā̩moda̍te ̇s, unto ni̩kāma̍. ¦¦

Thus so, to vi̩rati̍, one shalt cause to pāla̩ya̍, he̍rei̩n, how pray te̍ll. || 16.44 ||

Kārikā Pañcacatvāriṃśā

Ni̍ra̩pekṣa̍, sama̩citta̍, ¦¦

for those ni̩rbhī̍, the e̩nti̍re pra̩da̍ ̇ng, (is a) kṛ̩pā̍, from he̩tu̍. |

False̍ly, for vā̩da̍, ought one brū̩yā̍t, ¦¦

— for paro̍pa̩ghāta̍, pray te̩ll — (an) ārya̍! || 16.45 ||

Kārikā Ṣaṭcatvāriṃśā

The sa̩ma̍hita̩ kāma̍, (tis) sa̩kṛpa̍, ¦¦

upon para̩duḥkha̍ ̇s u̍tpāda̩na̍ ̇ng, unto these ati̩bhīrū̍ also̩, |

in satva̍ vi̩naya̍, from su̩yukti̍, ¦¦

in suvi̩dūra̍, from the trivi̩dha̍ vā̩g doṣa̍. || 16.46 ||

Kārikā Saptacatvāriṃśā

— the entire̩ ā̩kāra̍ —, (tis a) ma̩na̍s, for kle̩śa̍. || 16.47 ||

Kārikā Aṣṭācatvāriṃśā

The upa̩kara̍ sa̩ñjñā̍, unto mo̩da̍, ¦¦

— indeed, in apa̩kāri̍n, for para̩hita̍ sa̩ñjñā̍, para̩hita̍, co̩nsta̍ntly, in du̩ḥkha̍ —, |

(one) labha̍te ̇s, whe̩n, kṛpā̍lu̩. ¦¦

Ya̍d, to the artha̍m, they i̩ccha̍nti, for dha̩nā̍ni, these dehi̍nas. ¦

In this manne̍r, just so̩, these dhīrā̍ ̇s vi̩sṛja̍nti̩, unto these dehi̍ṣu ̇s. |

From the śarī̍ra̩ heto̍r, dha̩na̍m, (tis) i̩ṣya̍te̩ ̇d, by these jana̍is. ¦

The̍nce, sa̩me way, with those dhīra̍iḥ, by the hu̩ndre̍ds, (tis) vi̩sṛjya̍te̩ ̇d. || 16.59 ||

Kārikā Ṣaṣṭitamā

The śarī̩ra̍, just so̩, from the u̩tsṛja̍t ̇ng, (tis) no̩t duḥkhya̍te ̇d, ¦

the̩n, the mana̍s, the kā̩, (tis) in dravi̍ṇa̩ avara̍ ̇d, in what wa̩y. |

Tha̩t, of thi̍s, to the loka̩ u̩ttara̍, e̩ti̍ ̇s; wherefo̩re, muda̍ ̇ly, ¦

he̩, —by tha̍t, for tha̩t, of tha̍t—, then, (is) for the u̩ttara̍, aga̩in. || 16.60 ||

no̩t to tuṣṭi̍, ā̩yāti̍ ̇s, that ma̩nner, (an) a̩rthi̍ka̩, thereto̍. |

Enti̍rely existi̩ng, with dāna̍, which manne̩r, he̩re, the dhīma̍t, ¦

unto the tuṣṭi̩, vraja̍ti ̇s, of the arthi̩n ̇ing jana̍, by tuṣṭi̩. || 16.61 ||

The sa̍mpūrṇa̩ bhoga̍, (tis) no̩t, that ma̍nner, for the asti̩ma̍t; ¦

for ā̩tma̍n, a̩nvīkṣa̍ti̩'s the yāca̍ka, thereto̩. |

Enti̍rely existi̩ng, from dāna̍, a̩dhana̍, therefo̩re, the dhīma̍t, ¦

Kārikā Trayaḥṣaṣṭā

For the su̍vi̩pula̍m, also̩, (tis) vitta̍m, ˰ having prā̩pya̍ ̇d no͈t, in thi̍s way, for u̍pa̩kāra̍ṃ. ¦

Vi̩gaṇa̍yati ̇d, (tis) that manne̩r, the a̩rthi̍n, ˰ from the dāya̩kā̍t ̇ng, of (a) lābha̩ ̇ngs heto̍ḥ. |

In the ri̩ght ma̍nner, he̩re̍, with these su̩dāna̍ ̇s, ˰ these arthi̩na̍s, having cause to be tarpa̩yi̍tvā̩ ̇d, ¦

for the maha̍t, for the upa̩kara̍ sa̩ñjñā̍, ˰ in the̩se, (is) the dhīmā̍n, such manne̩r, ju̩st so̍. || 16.63 ||

Kārikā Catuḥṣaṣṭā

The svaya̍m, the apa̩gata̍'d śo̩kā̍s, ˰ of the dehi̩na̍, (tis a) sva̩stha̍'ng rū̩pā̍. ¦

For the vi̩pula̍, therefo̩re, having gṛhī̍tvā̩ ̇d, ˰ doth bhuñja̍te, of who̩m, the vitta̍. |

On the patha̍, from the para̩ma̍ ̇st phala̩ ā̩ḍhya̍ ̇d, ˰ from bhoga̩ ̇s vṛkṣa̍, which ma̩nner, (tis) just so̍. ¦

The pravi̩sṛti̍, the ati̩bhogi̍n, ˰ from the bodhi̩sattva̍, no̩t tha̍t, (tis) the othe̩r. || 16.64 ||

Vīrya Vibhāge

Kārikā Pañcaṣaṣṭā

From the prā̩dhānya̍, tha͈t, (tis) the kāra̍ṇa and karma̩'s bheda̍, ¦

from the pra̩kāra̍ (of) the bheda̩ ̇s ā̩śraya̍ of bhe̩da̍, also̩, |

from the catu̍r vi̩bandha̍ ̇s (of) the prati̩pakṣa̍'s bhe̩da̍, ¦

(tis) vī̩rya̍, shall be pari̩jñeya̍ ̇ble, ju̩st so̍, for the pra̩diṣṭa̍. || 16.65 ||

Kārikā Ṣaṭṣaṣṭā

For vīrya̍m pa̩ra̍m, of śukla̩ gaṇa̍sya, in madhye̩, ¦

therefo̍re, ni̩śrita̍'ng, of tha̩t, from whe̍nce, is the anu̩lābha̍. |

By vīrye̍ṇa, a̩t o̍nce, (is) the su̩sukho̍ vi̩hāro̍, ¦

—loka̩ u̩ttarā̍, loka̩ gatā̍— also̩ (a) siddhi̍ḥ. || 16.66 ||

From vīrya̍, was for avā̩pta̍ ̇ng bhava̩ bhoga̍, was i̩ṣṭa̍ ̇d; ¦

by vīrya̩, to (a) śuddhi̍ most pra̩balā̍, (are they) upe̩tā̍ ̇d. |

By vīrya̍, to (a) sa̩t kāya̍, having atī̩tya̍ ̇d, (are) these mu̩ktā̍s. ¦

By vīrya̩, to bodhi̍ para̩ma̍ ̇st, (are) these vi̩buddha̍ ̇d. || 16.67 ||

Aga̩in, for mata̍, (tis) the hā̩ni̍'ng (to) vi̩vṛddhi̍ vī̩rya̍, ¦

for the mokṣa̩'s a̩dhipa̍, for the pakṣa̍'s vi̩pakṣa̍, besi̩des. |

In tattva̍, (tis) pra̩viṣṭa̍'d, for the pari̩varta̍ka'ng, also̩. ¦

Vīrya̍, (tis) the mahā̩ a̩rtha̍, and the ni̩rukta̍, moreo̩ver. || 16.68 ||

A sa̩nnāha̍'d vī̩rya̍, for pratha̩ma̍, therefro̩m, also̍, ¦

the pra̩yoga̍ of vī̩rya̍, having the ri̩ght ma̍nner, (are) forthright pra̩hita̍'d. |

For a̩līna̍, for being a̩kṣobhya̍, (tis an) a̩tuṣṭi̍'s vī̩rya̍. ¦

Hīna̍ (or) madhya̩ (or) u̩ttama̍ ̇st, the prā̩ya̍, ¦

The sa̩ṅgṛhī̍tā̩s, they shall be grahī̍ṣya̩nte̍ ̇d, ¦

sa̩ṅgṛhya̍nte̩ ̇d, also̍, they who̩ (are) here prese̍nt, |
