of these Buddhas, by rough robed mendicant monks foremostly, |

in the aggregates of duality perfected. || 17.1 ||
Kārikā Dvitīyā
Shall be unbound, in an awakened existence, ¦
having the aspiration, the true one. |

perfected is the Buddha's veneration. || 17.2 ||
Kārikā Tṛtīyā
Of truths, of immeasurable first principles, ¦
for an all around ripening to perfection also, tis none higher. |

from the liberation, and from suchness. || 17.4 ||
Kārikā Pañcamā
From the ground of being, from the essence, is the pūjā; ¦
from the instrumental cause, from the transformation of objects, |
from the causal construct, from knowledge, from the field of action, ¦
from refuge, tis also manifestly showing. || 17.5 ||
Kārikā Ṣaṣtā
From the causal construct, from the fruition also, similarly, ¦
with self and with others; moreover, |
from attaining true effort also; like that, ¦
from the practice, two fold also, tis she1. || 17.6 ||
[1] pūjā
Kārikā Saptamā
Encircling, those two great things, is the pūjā; ¦
similar, like unto a reader of the mind, also tis she. |
From the preparation, from the going also, just so, ¦
from the aspiration, also is she, the consciousness. || 17.7 ||
Kārikā Aṣṭamā
In these awakened ones, the pūjā on highest, tis from self reflection, ¦
from the dharma inclination's strong tendency, from the universal presence, |
by the non·vibrating approach fully comprehending, ¦
from every single causal effect dwelling within also. || 17.8 ||

from refuge, tis also manifestly showing. || 17.9 ||
Kārikā Daśamā
A friend ought serve, tranquil quietude and peace, ¦
for the attribute's abundance, for an elevated preparation, for a knowledge richly endowed. |
For awakening 'suchness', is the word agreed upon; ¦
compassion forming the nature thereof, tis for lassitude averting, also. || 17.10 ||
Kārikā Ekādaśā
With these true actions attaining, by service, and, ¦
it ought serve the friend, from practice, also. |
In the dharma, that manner, much knowing the realm of karma, like that, is the one of wisdom. ¦
The friend ought go forth, upon the sacred vows, bowing also. || 17.11 ||
Kārikā Dvādaśā
In these true actions attaining, tis the manner of going a longing; this, ¦
tis, to a pious calm abiding, for him; he ought make cause to repectfully bow also. |
Which manner, from revealed practice, also, ¦
ought cause to thrive intelligence, hence, of that, an insightful comprehension. || 17.12 ||
Kārikā Trayodaśā
In the vehicle triad, the skill, having approached, by discerning intellect, ¦
of the self, just so, of the method, should unite, in an empowerment. |
For these sentient beings, for these immeasurables, tis for the maturation, ¦
of the field of action, of purifying, tis also for perfecting. || 17.13 ||
Kārikā Caturdaśā
In these dharmas, from an offering, with no substance, is the yogin. ¦
Not, in this way, by a gift, ought first abide one, a friend. |
From impulse, from fruition, from the dharma principle following, ¦
ought one serve, a friend, the shunned, and the one of wisdom. || 17.14 ||
Kārikā Pañcadaśā
From hearing the stream, in consciousness, from sacred practice also, ¦
similarly, is a non·arrogance of mind, from meditation. |
From a rebirth preparation's affirmation of vows also, ¦
for the auspicious friend, indeed, ought serve, the one of wisdom. || 17.15 ||
Highest Service
Kārikā Ṣoḍaśā
To serve a true friend, tis the supreme, from self reflecting consciousness; ¦

from every single causal effect dwelling within, also. || 17.16 ||
Upon The Four Immeasurable Brāhma Viharas, The Distinctions
Kārikā Saptadaśā
By the pious, tis the alternative view forsaking, ¦¦
with wisdom, for those departed ones also, by the non·cognizing still mind. |
The three fold fundamental supports that turn by their nature, ¦¦
of these sentient beings, are the maturing, in insightful comprehension. || 17.17 ||
Kārikā Aṣṭādaśā
In tranquility longing, in suffering afflicted, ¦
in being pleased, in the defiled one also, they churn onward. |
Therefore, in teaching and in the dharma, ¦
tis that, in the Suchness also, of awakened Buddhas. || 17.18 ||
Kārikā Navadaśā
From her also, tis Suchness, from motivation. ¦
From calm abiding attaining, is ever more purified. |
From a karma of two kinds, is non·dependence. ¦
'Universal Friendship', tis from affliction abiding, therefore. || 17.19 ||
Kārikā Viṃśā
They, these stubborn immovables, and those wavering ones also, ¦¦
with those pitiable wretched ones, are the horse·like beginning; not also shallt they be knowing. |
Amongst the unwavering ones, are these bodhisattvas, ¦¦
these steadfast ones, upon attachment departing. || 17.20 ||
Kārikā Ekaviṃśā
These ill composed self natures, ¦
these very slight centers, these deficient plateaus, in which, thereto, |
defective lasting impressions, are most similar. ¦
These being cast aside, they, indeed, an other manner, in sooth, are excellent. || 17.21 ||
Kārikā Dvāviṃśā
With these brāhmya·viharis, is a reluctance to be abiding in a place. ¦
Amongst the empassioned ones, doth fully manifest, such time, the sage; |
for the 'sambhāra' virtues, to be caused to grow. ¦
Having been before a sentient being also, he is caused to mature, by that. || 17.22 ||
Kārikā Trayoviṃśā
By all means, also, were the enjoined, ¦¦
with these brāhmya·viharis, the forsaken, and that, tis with an alternative view. |
Thence, with these pratyaya causes, though most strong, ¦¦
doth not go, for change, the blundering, thereto. || 17.23 ||
Kārikā Caturviṃśā
Destruction and violence, with these two, ¦¦
with displeasure malice desire and passion, also, |
the Yogin, indeed, the Bodhisattva, ¦¦
to much sacrifice, unto distress, doth touch. || 17.24 ||
Kārikā Pañcaviṃśā
With these afflictions, doth smite, to self's essence; ¦¦
for these living beings, doth destroy; for virtue, doth impair. |
Writing with apprehending abandoned, ¦¦
protection forsaken, that manner, is the teacher. || 17.25 ||
Kārikā Ṣaḍviṃśā
With placing at the fore, that which remains going to, ¦¦
elsewhere, doth fully develop, in inopportune difficult moments, one also. |
Firmly grasping and firmly ungrasping relinquished, ¦¦
in the mind, tis a great thing, for suffering, doth one obtain. || 17.26 ||
Kārikā Saptaviṃśā
These, in every way, are a defilement. ¦¦
In benevolent goodwill, upon these primarily, of being well established, not do they exist. |
The undefiled, unto mundane sensory existence, ¦¦
for a true skillful means, for us also, doth fully forsake. || 17.27 ||
Kārikā Aṣṭāviṃśā

the awakened intellect, tis not in the distant remoteness, of a victorious nature born. || 17.31 ||
Kārikā Dvātriṃśā
Having fully known, the mundane existence way of going about, it is complete. ¦

is urged forward the compassionate one, the foremost discerning intellect. || 17.32 ||
Upon Saṃsāra Understanding
Kārikā Trayastriṃśā

Kārikā Pañcatriṃśā
Nor is that empathy, which is not similar over time, also ¦
not from beyond inclination, nor from supposition, also |

The root foremost, is seed (then) leaf and fruit. || 17.36 ||
Kārikā Saptatriṃśā
Unto the root, compassion ought not exist; ¦¦
the arduous spiritual practice, with endurance, ought not exist. |
Suffering unendurable, is also the one of wisdom. ¦¦
The true way of it, -ought one cause to reflect-, tis not in this way. || 17.37 ||
