Of one's own body, the leaving, ¦

tis from fulfillment, and, thus so, about existing. |

In these enfeebled ones, upon the earth, in a body, ¦

upon the life's duration, tis from disregarding. || 19.1 ||


Kārikā Dvitīyā

Upon The Wondrous A Division (2)

The effort to commence an action, assuredly, unpleasant, ¦

in these meditations, tis peaceful, certainly, and |

non·conceptual also, ˰ in transcendental wisdom; ¦

tis most wondrous, of these sages, for a manner of going. || 19.2 ||


Kārikā Tṛtīyā

Upon The Wondrous A Division (3)

In the Tathāgata linage, a living existence ¦

attaining, tis of expounding, also |

of consecration; and the acquiring, ¦

of awakened consciousness, also most wondrous, tis sought after. || 19.3 ||


Upon The Not Astonishing, A Division

Upon The Not Astonishing, A Division, One Śloka

For detachment, for compassion, for a caitya's ¦

mental upliftment, for the highest, therefore; |

that manner, thus so, tis for equanimity. ¦

Not astonishing, in those, is the suitableness. | 19.4 ||


Upon Equanimity

Upon Equanimity, Three Ślokas

Not, that manner, in the persona, in those partners, ¦

in those begotten boon companions, in those kindred ones; |

of those sentient beings, promoted was an affectionate love; ¦

whereof, in these sentient beings, tis for wisdom. || 19.5 ||


Kārikā Ṣaṣṭā

Upon Equanimity (2)

A conniving self·opinionated mode of defect, and, ¦

of moral precept, the undefiled, are for a way of life. |

Equanimity, by all means, tis a true path, ¦

a heroic beginning to action, a great principal also. || 19.6 ||


Kārikā Saptamā

Upon Equanimity (3)

For reflective meditation, and for good intention, constantly, ¦

prajñā, also like that, tis a more diminished vibration. |

The comprehension, of bodhisattvas, ¦

in those, just so, tis equanimity. || 19.7 ||


Upon Mercy A Division

Upon Mercy A Division, Sixteen Ślokas

A foundation, in generosity, also ¦

in these moral precepts, just so, tis for raising up. |

Patience also, of immorality, ¦

upon the path, tis an action of graceful walking. || 19.8 ||

Making well disposed, ˰ upon the teaching, in this, ¦

is the cutting off, of doubt; and, |

in sentient beings, the mercy, ¦

of wisdom sages, this, is sought after. || 19.9 ||


Kārikā Daśamā

By the tendencies, of these living beings, ¦

they are caused to be born, continuously; just so, those who |

are brought to birth, upon a noble plateau; and, ¦

with those merits of virtue, they are made to grow also. || 19.10 ||


Kārikā Ekādaśamā

From misdeed, they fully defend; ¦

for teaching, they are brought to expound also. |

By these five, by those actions, these true ¦

mother vibrations, are the victorious nature born. || 19.11 ||


Kārikā Dvādaśā

From reverence, upon all sentient beings, ¦

every time, tis also, from sowing seed, |

upon the higher virtue's foremost teaching, ¦

upon liberation from rebirth, and from tying down. || 19.12 ||


Kārikā Trayodaśā

From the Buddha seeking, and for this, ¦

tis of a strong request also, from non·obscuring. |

By these five, by those actions, these true ¦

father vibrations, are the victorious nature born. || 19.13 ||

For an ignoble guidance, those which, also ¦

of these living beings, are made hidden, indeed. |

Those teachings, for ruination, ˰ they do blame. ¦

They do desire, like that, also, for perfection. || 19.14 ||


Kārikā Pañcadaśā

For teaching, also they support. ¦

For hindurances, they are caused to experience, assuredly. |

By these five, by those actions, these true ¦

kinsman kalpās, are the victorious nature born. || 19.15 ||


Kārikā Ṣoḍaśā

In complete affliction, in purification also, ¦

unto a self, these invigorated impressions |

do support, for the worldly, for the entirety, ¦

for sumptuous wealth, and for being highly cultured. || 19.16 ||


Kārikā Saptadaśā

In contentment, in being inspired also, ˰ tis unchanging; those who1, ¦

always, are of contentment and being inspired desiring. |

With these five, with those actions, these true ¦

friend vibrations, are the victorious nature born. || 19.17 ||

The duality's good fortune most generous, ¦

that, tis in the expedient means, and the ones of wisdom. |

With these five, with these actions, the true ¦

Upon those unarisen dharmas, ¦

for calm abiding, were these firmly grasped; also, those which are mental perceptions. |

The entire vehicle foundation desiring one, ¦

the perfected yogas, are these directing. || 19.20 ||

These fair faced learned teachers, in a counter action, and ¦

in the ripening consequence also, tis from being impartial. |

With these five, with these actions, these true ¦

unwavering guide vibrations, are the victorious nature born. || 19.21 ||

For a true action way, are these bound up together; ¦

for those fully preparing, they are brought to be fulfilled; in which, |

for those fully bearing up, they are caused to be liberated, rather quickly; ¦

for the contrarian view, are they caused to forsake also. || 19.22 ||

With these realms of fulfullment, with these bright appearances, ¦

with these non·worldly essences, they are made bound together also. |

By these five, by those actions, these true ¦

With unattachment, and just so, in sensualities, ¦

of morality also, they are not by refutations. |

The acquired knowledge, tis from meditation, and ¦

In those six, in those pāramitā perfections, in this way, ¦

the changing opinions, verily, of these embodied beings, |

they exist, of these bodhisattvas; ¦

For growth, for cessation also, they desire, ¦

of these sentient beings, also for fully maturing. |

The quintessence attaining, tis upon the plateau, ¦

In the anxiety of cessation, upon fully coming up, ¦

in the uncertainty of the cutting asunder thereto, and |

Generosity, (tis) of being without counter expectation, ¦

of being without craving, once more, in cyclic existence. |

Without the formless state, in that manner, for contemplation, ¦

tis the prajñā and upāya conjunction. |

The combined practice, ˰ of these comprehensions, ¦

tis in these six, in these perfections, most assuredly. || 19.29 ||

Sensuality's attachment, that, ˰ tis for debilitation. ¦

Of these abiding ones, of these bodhisattvas, ¦

tis in adversaries; in those also, |

shall be known, a remaining essence most conducive thereof. ¦

Fine voice and articulation fully falling in together, and ¦

the practice abandoned, |

these, are assuredly, of bodhisattvas, ¦

for nought of living beings, these teachings. |

From the going all about, of those so endowed, ¦

hence, for materiality, are these teachings. || 19.33 ||

Those, with these gifts first gathering together, ¦

of these sentient beings, they lead onward, assuredly. |

The one of wisdom's teaching, tis in two parts, ¦

Not by an arising serenity attaining, ¦

is a self pride's indulgence rejected. |

From the solitary existence of vagabondage, tis also, ¦

By a realm, with a name, ˰ with time, ¦

by an epoch's name, tis also that, again. |

By a followers continuance also, ¦

A want of savouring, tis in contentment, and certainly, ¦

of these characteristics, non·conceptuality. |

A constancy shalt be done, therefore; ¦

The dharma's generosity,˰ tis morality's purity, ¦

The insight wisdom, of the pāramitās, and ¦

the understanding, of wisdom sages, are the intention. || 19.42 ||

Knowledge, the abiding principle, ¦

from the sūtra's first appearance of separation, |

shall be known, tis the dharma's foundation, ¦

Once more, for a truely virtuous foundation, ¦

seven fold, tis the essential empty nature, from refuge, |

four fold, and three fold also; thus so, ¦

tis the union vehicle's firm abode. || 19.44 ||

Fundamentally also, the mental construct, ¦

combined together beholding, is the fruition mixed with. |

With these measures, the gathering together, for the incomprehensible, ¦

Steadfastness, tis an enjoyment's germation, indeed, ¦

for the characteristic, of binding fast, verily. |

With these foundations, those memories belonging to thoughts, in sooth, ¦

they are bound, in this manner, with seeds. || 19.49 ||

Before, (t'was) for being established, which also, ¦

(is) the characteristic, which (is) for standing firm, itself. |

The entirety, the radiant sage of wisdom ¦

Suchness, tis the fundamental ground, for wisdom; ¦

duality grasping excluded. |

The affliction body's ˰ 'direct perception', ¦

that!, in abiding, (tis), of these wisdom sages, the intent. || 19.51 ||

Suchness tis, of dependences, for knowledge, ¦

the undifferentiated, for making the manifested. |

Existence and non·existence, upon the path, ˰ (tis) before the eyes. ¦

A Conceptual cognition all pervading, also, tis said. || 19.52 ||


Kārikā Trayaḥpañcāśā

Upon, Which Manner, The Living Being's Protection A Division (6)

Suchness, having fully been concealed, of these childish ones; ¦

non·suchness expresses itself, from every direction. |

Suchness, indeed, of these Bodhisattvas, ¦

from every where, expresses itself, having disregarded that. || 19.53 ||

Upon, Which Manner, The Living Being's Protection A Division (7)

Disappearance and appearance, shall be perceived, ¦

on both an untrue path and a true path. |

Of the āśraya's fundamental basis, is the turning away. ¦

Liberation, that, tis from moving about intentionally. || 19.54 ||

Upon, Which Manner, The Living Being's Protection A Division (8)

One to another, the equal of caste, ¦

do praise the way; from every where, the great principle! |

The hindrance making, from that, ¦

unto common knowledge; it ought surge up! || 19.55 ||

For an all around general maturity, for being purified, and ¦

for being attainable, for being fit for yoga, also, in the maturing, |

Of the awakened mind, also rising up; ¦

is not the arising of calm abiding, in this way, also. |

Seeing, and without a blemish forsaking, ¦

tis a defilement's withering decay, like that, also. || 19.57 ||


Kārikā Aṣṭāpañcāśā

Upon Insight's Fruition A Division (2)

Of the true dharma, is stability prolonged. ¦

A development, is cutting off sensuality. |

From guidance, a fruition shall be known, ¦

that, of one so enjoined, is from the sage of wisdom. || 19.58 ||

The object of observation ̇s 'importance', and ¦

the observation, are of duality; that manner, |

The higher sacred knowledge's importance, also, ¦

the greatness, (tis) of awakened conscious deeds. |

This, from the importance enjoined, verily, ¦

the Mahāyāna, tis so explained. || 19.60 ||

The lineage, the dharma's foremost resolve also, ¦

of cognition, tis manifesting; that manner, |

is the generosity primary practice; and ¦

the descent entering the womb, tis like that also. || 19.61 ||


Kārikā Dvāṣaṣṭā

Upon The Mahāyāna Fully Grasping A Division (2)

Of these sentient beings, is a general maturation, and ¦

of the field of action, also a purification. |

For a lack of steadfastness in motionless consciousness, ¦

the awakened intellect, tis resplendent also, from appearance. || 19.62 ||


Upon The Bodhisattva A Division

Kārikā Trayaḥṣaṣṭā

Upon The Bodhisattva A Division, Ten Ślokas

The very much determined one, and ¦

a pure faultless attitude, is on highest. |

Upon the instrumenal cause, and in the signless state also, ¦

is the wandering about; thereto, in an unconditioned state, |

these bodhisattvās, assuredly, shall increase wisdom. ¦

Five these are, upon all stages. || 19.63 ||


Kārikā Catuḥṣaṣṭā

Upon The Bodhisattva A Division (2)

In these passions, the non clinging, is a triple purity action; ¦

for wrathful anger upon the Earth, tis an attribute, that!, most supreme also. |

In the dharma, unwavering, suchness deep beholding, ¦

in awakened consciousness, with delight, verily, is the Bodhisattva. || 19.64 ||


Kārikā Pañcaṣaṣṭā

Upon The Bodhisattva A Division (3)

Kindness desirous of, tis a non·aggression beholding; ¦

in those greater annoyances, tis agreeable also. |

Insightful comprehension, is careful, and much celebrated also. ¦

The highest path engaging, verily, is the Bodhisattva. || 19.65 ||


Kārikā Ṣaṭṣaṣṭā

Upon The Bodhisattva A Division (4)

For these foremost, is a disregard, in the self's all around graspings. ¦

In these possessions, tis a non clinging; indeed, tis a blatant animosity. |

The yogin, upon a measure, tis a most proper, keen observation. ¦

The higher self nature fully dependent upon, verily, is the Bodhisattva. || 19.66 ||

Sympathy understood, is the remorse attribute dependent upon. ¦

From sorrow's fragrance, in these complacent ones, tis non clinging. |

The remembrance principal, tis a well composed self nature. ¦

A vehicle unchangeable, verily, is the Bodhisattva. || 19.67 ||

Suffering repelling, suffering making is not also like that? ¦

The suffering's fragrance, is not also suffering feared? |

From suffering, unfettered not also is the suffering's vibration? ¦

Suffering approaching, verily, is the Bodhisattva. || 19.68 ||

In the dharma, tis amusing, the non·dharma gratified, with prakṛtī. ¦

In the dharma, tis disgust, the dharma rebuked. |

In the dharma, tis powerful, a dharma without darkness making. ¦

The dharma principle, tis verily, the Bodhisattva. || 19.69 ||

A feeling most vigilant, a non·grasping most vigilant, ¦

a guarding most vigilant, a benevolence most vigilant, |

a contentment most vigilant, a dharma most vigilant, ¦

a vehicle most vigilant, tis verily, the Bodhisattva. || 19.70 ||

Dishonour ‐for shame, the body's maladies ‐for shame, ¦

impatience ‐for shame, decline ‐for shame, |

mental scattering ‐for shame, the body beholding ‐for shame, ¦

the vehicle's inexhaustabile shame, tis verily, the bodhisattvaḥ. || 19.71 ||

Here, –moreover, also there above–, by overlooking, ¦

by mental construct so bound, with these awakened natures obtaining, |

with equanimity's example, with extraordinary fruition, ¦

upon promoting virtue, proceeds by turns the Bodhisattvaḥ. || 19.72 ||

The Bodhisattva, the great sentient being, ¦

the sage of wisdom, tis also, in this way, the very highest splendour. |

The victor's child, the Victor strongly holding, ¦

shall be victorious, then, for these Victors, is the thing. || 19.73 ||

Upon Bodhisattva Equanimity, By Name, A Division (2)

Taking wide strides, so greatly, tis most marvelous. ¦

With good means of bearing, tis a great glory. |

Being merciful, also, tis a great virtue's ¦

mentor; the righteous one, is that manner. || 19.74 ||

Upon Bodhisattva Equanimity, By Name, A Division (3)
For These, The Sixteen Of All Bodhisattvas, Are Consistently Clear, With High Minded Equanimity

By the very essential nature of perceptions, with these very great means of perceptions, ¦

with all lower perceptions, moreover, with these constant perceptions. |

With these expedient means of perceptions also, by a remaining attribute distinction, ¦

by that, tis said, “with the causal construct, is the Bodhisattva”. || 19.75 ||

From the self's awakening, from the body observing perception, ¦

from a resplendent pure consciousness for perception also, |

of the entirety, and from an unliving resonance for arousing, ¦

by that, tis said, “with the causal construct, is the Bodhisattva”. || 19.76 ||

from non·existence for perception, from pre·existence for perception, |

from a non·perceptivity for the perception to awaken also, ¦

From lack of a method for perception, from the highest method for perception, ¦

from the entirety of lower perception, from the perfect method for perception, |

shall be known, -from the perception of the fundamental basis- the perception of perception, ¦

from the essential nature's remembrance, of a regular progress observing, |

from perception, to a high degree, from doubt casting aside the perception, ¦

The one who grasps, indeed the one who does not grasp, tis the intent, standing together, and ¦

the one who perceives, the one who reflects, the one who teaches also. |

The indescribable discerning intellect, tis a useless notion being highly honored; ¦

indeed, an immature and completely mature intelligence, also, (tis) the one of wisdom. || 19.80 ||
